Long Island, New York Nose Surgery - James Marotta, MD - Nasal Fracture
A broken nose or nasal fracture can be very distressing for patients. The nose may be visibly crooked or the breathing altered by a fracture. If a nose if visibly deviated or crooked closed nasal reduction should be performed within 1 to 2 weeks of the injury. Closed nasal reduction is essentially manipulation without incisions of the broken nasal bones to bring them into better alignment. In cases of complex or old nasal fractures, rhinoplasty and/or septoplasty may be required to straighten a crooked nose, remove a bump, or correct breathing problems.
