What can Dr. Marotta treat with Artefill®?
- Nasolabial folds (lines that extend from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth)
- Melolabial folds (lines that extend from the corners of the mouth to the sides of the chin)
General Procedure
All patients having Artefill® will first have a skin test. In this skin test a small amount of collagen and local anesthetic is injected into the skin of the arm. This is a saftey precaution to make sure you are not allergic to Artefill®. Following a negative skin test (no allergies), Artefill® is injected into the area to be treated with a very fine needle and anesthetic solution resulting in minimal discomfort. Dr. Marotta injects very small amounts at a time to insure a smooth and even distribution.
Recovery
Immediately following injection, an ice pack will be placed on your face to soothe and minimize the potential for bruising or swelling. You may have some redness or swelling at the injection site. This usually dissipates rapidly and most patients return to work following the procedure. The improvement in your appearance is immediate. Over 4-6 weeks the body will produce collagen in the injected areas further (permanently) improving your appearance. A second injection session may be performed 6 weeks following the first (if required) to fully correct deep folds.
