Restylane® Cosmetic Dermal Filler - Marotta Plastic Surgery - Long Island, NY

Exciting News!!!  Restylane® is the first & only dermal filler

FDA approved for use in the lips!!!

Restylane® is a cosmetic dermal filler used to treat wrinkles and enhance the lips. It is one of the best non-surgical forms of facial rejuvenation and lip enhancement available today and is capable of producing phenomenal, immediate improvement in your appearance.

Restylane® is made of hyaluronic (hi-yall-ron-ick) acid. This substance is found naturally in our bodies in joints and cartilage. Restylane is a soft, clear substance and is entirely bio-degradable. The effects of Restylane last about 6 months.  Recent clinical trials showed that at least 95% of patients tested retained correction 18 months later when the area had been retreated at 5-9 months.

Restylane® has been approved by the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) as a safe and effective therapy. It has been used in the USA since 1994 in millions of treatments.

What can Dr. Marotta treat with Restylane®?

  • Nasolabial folds (lines that extend from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth)
  • Melolabial folds (lines that extend from the corners of the mouth to the sides of the chin)
  • Nasojugal groove (gives a "Non-surgical" lower eyelid lift)
  • Fine lines around your mouth ("lipstick lines")
  • Enlarge, enhance, and define the lips
  • Improve facial contours by filling in depressions or hollow areas

General Procedure

Restylane® is injected into the area to be treated with a very fine needle resulting in minimal discomfort. Topical anesthetics, ice, or local anesthetics can be used to eliminate the discomfort from injections. Dr. Marotta injects very small amounts at a time to insure a smooth and even distribution. The lips are injected in a manner which produces adequate augmentation with the most natural results.

Recovery

Immediately following injection, an ice pack will be placed on your face to soothe and minimize the potential for bruising or swelling. You may have some redness or swelling at the injection site. This usually dissipates rapidly and most patients return to work immediately following the procedure. If you have had lip enhancement swelling may be more pronounced and last a bit longer. The improvement in your appearance is immediate and will last 6-8 months.
